Thank you for visiting my website. I am currently serving my second term as a state senator representing Eden Prairie and Minnetonka and I am asking for your support for re-election.

In 1994, I was elected to the first of three terms on the Eden Prairie school board. I ran because I wanted our education system to perform better for our children. In 2002, I was elected to the state senate, and sought that position because I had learned that local school boards need changes in state law if they are to fulfill their duty to effectively manage education. I am running for re-election because that task still needs to be accomplished and we need responsible leadership to make it happen.

But improving our education system is not the only challenge we face. As we look at the economy, health care, and our social service commitments, it is clear we cannot continue to simply increase our state budget and hope for the best. We can do better. We can do better by affirming parents in their role as the primary educators of their children through policies that offer greater opportunities to choose schools. We can do better by reducing the tax and regulatory burdens on Minnesota companies to encourage private sector investment. We can do better by ensuring that all Minnesotans have choice and control over their health care, and expanding the market for innovative insurance products so it is affordable for all.

I am a principled conservative who believes the solutions we choose must be based on sound principle. The problems we face require thoughtful public discussion because ultimately, we must persuade the people of Minnesota that a different direction is preferable to the continued drift into increased state dependency. A campaign of slogans and sound bites is not enough.

We are excited about the opportunity to make our case to the people of Eden Prairie and Minnetonka and look forward to the challenging race ahead of us.
